Subscribing Paid Memberships Pro Users to Email Marketing Lists

Paid Memberships Pro is a popular, customizable, WordPress membership plugin that powers thousands of membership and online course websites.

If you run a membership website, you need to start building an email list of your members or users. You can generate more sales with an email list by sending them discounts, new offers, products, etc. This is a proven strategy to encourage customers to return to your store.

MailOptin integrates with Paid Memberships Pro so you can automatically add your users to your email list after they subscribe to a membership plan, as well as give them the option to subscribe during checkout.

You can also segment your students, users, or customers to a specific contact list based on the membership they purchase or are subscribed to, map customer data to custom fields, and assign tags.

Below are different ways you can use MailOptin with Paid Memberships Pro. But first, please make sure your store is running Paid Memberships Pro and has the MailOptin plugin activated.

Any Subscribed Membership

Follow the steps below to add all Paid Memberships Pro members or users to a specific email list regardless of the membership level they bought or are subscribed to.

Go to MailOptin >> Settings >> Paid Memberships Pro.

Select your email marketing software (e.g., Mailchimp, AWeber, MailerLite, etc.) and the email list to add customers to.

If you don’t use an email marketing service, you can save your students in WordPress by selecting “MailOptin Leads” as your integration. Learn more about MailOptin Leads.

You also can pass additional or extra user data about your students besides their names and email addresses by mapping their profile information to the corresponding custom fields in your email marketing software.

You can also specify or select custom tags to assign to them.

Finally, save your changes.

Subscription to Specific Membership Levels

To add members or WordPress users who subscribe to specific membership levels to specific lists or assign specific tags, open the membership level edit page by navigating to Paid Memberships Pro >> Settings >> Levels and clicking on the level name.

Scroll to the Other Settings section to reveal the MailOptin settings.

Select your email marketing software, the list to add them to, map custom fields, and the tags to assign to them.

Don’t forget to hit the save button.

Setting Up Paid Memberships Pro Newsletter Subscription Checkbox

By default, MailOptin automatically subscribes Paid Memberships Pro users to your email list after every membership checkout or subscription. Please follow the guide below to add an optin checkbox to the Paid Memberships Pro checkout/signup page to ask users’ permission before adding them to your email marketing list.

On MailOptin >> Settings >> Paid Memberships Pro, change the Subscription Method setting to “Ask for permission” and customize the optin checkbox label.

Please remember to save your changes.

When a visitor or user is on the Paid Memberships Pro checkout page, they will see an optin checkbox nudging them to subscribe to your email list.

It’s that easy to automatically subscribe Paid Memberships Pro members to your email list or let users opt-in to lists and assign tags to them.
