How to Add Sound Effects to Your Optin Campaigns

Adding sound effects to your WordPress optin campaigns, messages and call-to-actions can be a great way to ensure you grab your users’ attention.

With MailOptin’s new sound effect feature, it’s easy to add sound effects. Follow this guide to get started.

Please note that sound effects can only be added to popups, notification bar and slide-in optin types. And sounds won’t play if user has not interacted with the page on chrome but the optin will function normally without sound in this case.

Step 1 – Create or Modify an Optin

If you haven’t already, create an optin campaign or modify an existing optin from the MailOptin admin page in the WordPress dashboard by clicking the edit button or the optin name.

Step 2 – Choose a Sound Effect and Save

In the optin customizer, navigate to the Configuration tab, scroll down to the Sound Effect setting, and choose the sound you want to set for your optin from the dropdown.

The following effects are available to choose from:

  • No Effect (default)
  • Pop
  • Beep
  • Beep Up
  • Beep Down
  • Clong
  • Pong
  • Snare Flam
  • Custom: lets you add a URL to an mp3/wav audio file to play.

Pro Tip: If you need some sound files we recommend sites like https://freesound.org which provides royalty-free sounds which you can download (once you sign up for a free account).

When you choose a sound effect, the sound will play for your listening.

Save the changes once you are done. That’s it.
